Since I launched the site back in December 2018 I’ve had lots of positive feedback and comments from many people and this has been very encouraging and important to me (and of course it goes without saying that I am grateful to every single one of you that has taken the time to look at my website and get your head round the project!). In the first couple of months of this year, new blog posts were relatively frequent as I had quite a stash of new characters to introduce to the mix (and there are plenty more in the pipeline by the way!) as well as some useful tips to share for those hoping to get into/improve their drawing skills.
So, now I wanted to give a bit of an update post, because I’ve not posted for a fair while, the main reason being that I have been hard at work on the first book: Soupie J. Campbell, the Vain Soup Can. I won’t be giving too much away story wise in this post, but I can tell you that the book has been scripted and revised several times already. Initially I did extremely rough line sketches of the pictures for the book to go alongside the appropriate sections of text. Then after getting some feedback from my family, the text has been tailored and I am now on the long journey of getting the artwork done. This is without a doubt the hardest part of the process (so far!) and even though I always suspected it would take me a long time, I hadn’t quite prepared myself for quite how hard it would be! But that’s all part of the learning curve and an important part of the journey. Most importantly I am enjoying the challenge and I am still progressing all the time so things are moving forward and that’s all I want to be achieving at the moment.
Anyway the real purpose of this post was to give a little taster of some of the artwork completed so far. I won’t give you any of the text or context as I don’t want to spoil the story! But I just want you to get a feel for how the inside of the book will look. So here are two of pictures for you to enjoy.
So that’s all I’m giving away for now – I hope you enjoyed these, and if you did, rest assured there are plenty more like it in store. There is still lots of work to do yet but I will have the first book to you before too long – so please sit tight and be patient…..it will be worth the wait!
